What We Offer…
Our Family Medical and Counselling Centre in Doncaster East offers a Wide Range of both Medical and Counselling Services Under One Roof such as:

FAMILY MEDICAL SERVICES:

COMPREHENSIVE HEALTH CARE

Health promotion goes hand in hand with disease prevention. Our GP’s provide regular and comprehensive assessments to help you to maximise your health and wellbeing. In this way early warning signs of illness or disease can be picked up and addressed. Regular checks include pathology (blood tests), blood pressure, Body Mass Index, kidney and lung function, ECG testing, breast awareness and screening, Pap smears and skin cancer checks.

CHILD & ADULT IMMUNISATIONS

Thank goodness we live in an age where we are able to immunise against harmful diseases before they do harm to our entire community. Immunisation protects both the individual and others in the community, by reducing the spread of disease. The National Immunisation Program schedule guides our choices which includes immunisations in children at 2, 4, 6, 12 and 18 months, and 4 years, as well as adolescents and adults. This includes vaccines against a total of 16 diseases. Please discuss any questions around immunisation with your GP.

WOMEN’S HEALTH CHECKS

Health screening is an important part of disease prevention. There are many screening tests and examinations that healthy women can undertake to help with detection of diseases such as bowel cancer, breast cancer, cervical cancer, cardiovascular disease, glaucoma, diabetes, obesity, as well as visual and hearing impairment. Your GP is well placed to carry out some of these tests, refer you to have other tests, or to advise you on some of the self-checks you can be doing to monitor your health.

MEN’S HEALTH CHECKS

Men’s health is important yet many men neglect having regular check ups. There are many screening tests and examinations that healthy men can undertake to help with detection of diseases such as bowel cancer, testicular cancer, prostate cancer, diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular disease. Your GP is well placed to carry out some of these tests, refer you to have other tests, or to advise you on some of the self-checks you can be doing to monitor your health.

TRAVEL VACCINATION

Whether you are heading overseas for business or pleasure, it is recommended that you consult our GP’s in advance. We can advise on the various health risks for your destinations and provide the necessary vaccinations, medications and travel accessories to ensure that you and your family have a safe and healthy trip.

SKIN LESION REMOVAL

Skin lesions are lumps or bumps on your skin, such as moles, cysts, warts or skin tags. Most skin lesions are harmless and don’t need to be removed. But your doctor may recommend you have a lesion removed if it’s causing you significant problems, or if there’s any concern it could be cancerous. You can also have lesions removed if they’re bothering you or you don’t like the way they look. Ask our GP’s advice if any skin issues are present.

CARDIOVASCULAR CARE

Heart disease is one of the major diseases affecting Australian adults. Fortunately, there are some simple changes you can make to your lifestyle to improve your chance of beating heart disease. These include: Quitting smoking, Exercising and losing weight, Eating a balanced diet, Cutting your salt and sugar intake and Limiting your alcohol consumption. Have your blood pressure and cholesterol levels checked by your GP. People with high blood pressure and high cholesterol run a higher risk of having a stroke or a heart attack. Speak with your GP further about how you can implement a healthier lifestyle.

ASTHMA CARE

People with asthma have a much bigger difference than healthy people between how their lungs work at their best and at their worst. Lung function is tested using a simple spirometer machine. If you or your child may have asthma, your doctor will ask about the symptoms, do a physical examination, check for allergies and consider possible causes of symptoms and then advise on what treatment plan is best.

CARE FOR CHRONIC CONDITIONS

If you have a chronic medical condition, your doctor may suggest a GP Management Plan. This plan of action agreed between you and your GP and identifies your health care needs; sets out the services to be provided by your GP and lists the actions that you need to take. If you need treatment from 2 or more health professionals, your doctor may also put a Team Care Arrangement plan in place for you. This lets your doctor work with, and refer you to, at least 2 other health professionals who will provide treatment or services to you.

HEMORRHOID TREATMENT

Hemmorhoids are cushions of tissue containing swollen blood vessels, located in the lower rectum or anus. There are two types of hemorrhoids: internal and external. Hemorrhoids affect both men and women. The incidence of hemorrhoids increases after age 30, and by age 50, about half of the population will have experienced the condition. Dr. Wong has successfully treated Hemmorhoids for over 30 years using a simple ligation procedure.

PATHOLOGY SERVICES

St. Vincent’s Pathology is one of Australia’s leading not-for-profit pathology provider. Pathology is a complex discipline and invaluable to almost every area of medicine.  St. Vincent’s Pathology works hand-in-hand with our general practitioners and specialists who rely on pathology tests to help diagnose our patients. They operate each weekday morning 9.00 AM to 1.00 PM from our clinic

MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL HEALTH

Unlike many clinics, we do not just have a token psychologist renting a room. Rather our Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Mental Health Nurse and Relationship Counsellors all work together with our GP’s to provide comprehensive Mental and Emotional care and support to our clients. We have become well known for our level of service in the field of Mental Health Services throughout the region.  Click Here for more info.
